August Competition - Movement - CLOSED

Competitition time again and this month I thought you needed something to not
only show off your creative abilities but also to demonstrate your mastery of
some of the more technical aspects of photography, so the theme for this months
competition wil be MOVEMENT!
A photographic image is quite literally a snapshot in time, usually lasting
just a very small fraction of a second, so capturing a sense of movement within
an image requires a thorough understanding of exposure technique and the ability
to control and use shutter speed to get the desired effect. Too short an
exposure and the movement will be lost, too long and you risk introducing camera
shake, leaving you with a blurred image. As with most photographic techniques,
balance is the key.
Although using a longer shutter speed to introduce some movement blur may be
the most obvious route to take, it is by far not the only one. Movement can also
be frozen by a very fast shutter speed, or even by the introduction of flash,
while still giving an impression of the speed and motion involved. Or you could
try the best of both worlds by using a panning technique, which even with slow
moving subjects, is excellent for giving the impression of speed.
Your choice of subject is entirely up to you and there are so many to choose
from, but as always try to avoid the obvious and be original, as the important
thing here is not so much the subject itself, more the way in which you choose
to portray it.

*Submitted images must be no larger than 700 pixels on the longest side and a
maximum of 105kb	*Exif Data must be retained in the photo before uploading, this
can be acheived by using save as 	*All entries must be taken and submitted
during the competition period, 1st until 31st of August, 2008, midnight to
midnight	*Entries must be uploaded directly to the appropriate gallery,
*Only 1 entry per member, any member uploading more than one image will have
them all removed	*Once your entry has been uploaded you must contact a member of
the Admin Team if you wish to remove or replace it	*In order to maintain your
anonymity you must ensure that your entry does not contain any reference to
yourself, such as a watermark with your name in it, this also includes any
personal information in the Exif Data.	*You may only enter a title for your
photo, no other data may be added (eg - descriptions) 	*You must also ensure
that your entry, or a similar image that could potentially identify it as yours,
is not used or posted anywhere else until after voting has finished	* The final
entry date is August the 31st at midnight
*Entries will not be visible until voting begins	*By entering this competition
you are deemed to have read and agreed with these rules	*Failure to comply with
any of these rules will result in your entry being removed without warning. No
correspondence will be entered into regarding the removal of entries and the
decison to do so will be at the sole descretion of Gosnap Admin and will be
final. It is therefore your responsibility to ensure that your entry complies
with the published requirements
