Pic Of the Week 21- 06-2008

Again a difficult choice this week, while we are still having around 300 images to choose from the shortlist is getting longer which suggests to me that the quality of images uploaded is therefore getting better. Well done to all who have submitted images this week and a special mention to BadBadMan, Hicarrumba and many more of you who made my short list not so short after all.

This weeks chosen entry is a very skillfully executed portrait by PurplePaul. While the subject matter and composition may be fairly conventional, this image is proof of how much difference the smallest details can make, the eyes are crystal clear, the lighting is flawless and the overall quality of the image is just superb.

Although it is true that there are many images with those same qualities within our galleries there is however an additional element in this one that I believe lifts it above the crowd and that is quite simply the eye contact, the feeling of connection and the emotional response that generates. It connects the viewer to the subject and draws them in, it intrigues you and very effectively holds your attention for some time.

Very well done Paul and I am sure this will make a most impressive poster.
