Group Photo Project

Here's an area that often gets overlooked in photography yet it's an area where professional photographers work regularly - the humble group photo.

Luckily all you need is a get together or a number of family members in one place at one time to make an excuse to practice, and you'll be surprised at what you need to think about to turn an average photo into something special.

When photographing a group it's easy to allow people too much space, asking people to move their heads towards one another especially when there is a bond between them like family, partners or very close friends.

Also be mindful of the dynamic of the group, don't allow people to stand too far apart and look at people like a spectrum of colour graduation from one to another to give a sense of relational continuity in the photo.

Good luck with this one all!! I hope plenty of you are off to see some friends or relatives soon and don't forget your camera!!
