Description: Perfect for photojournalists, the SlingShot 200 AW uses a unique sling design to go from "carry mode" to "ready mode" in just seconds. Carried comfortably on the back, it easily rotates to the front so you can get to your camera quickly. The SlingShot 200 AW holds an SLR with mid-range zoom lens attached 3-4 extra lenses, cables and accessories and has a full access lid to make loading it a snap. This feature-rich bag also includes a built-in memory card pouch, micro fiber LCD cloth and two generous organizer pockets.

Pros: Unique concept, works well, lots of innovative features
Cons: Difficulty swapping lenses, can be heavy for a single strap

This is the mid sized of three versions of this bag and it just about holds my main kit (body+grip, 5 small-medium lenses, flashgun and most accessories) which means that it should carry enough to cover a good days shooting for most people. When fully loaded though it can become a little heavy which is where the single strap sling design falls down as the strap is fixed in one place, once your shoulder starts to get tired you are unable to switch it to the other one. In reality I have not found this to be much of a problem, the strap is adjustable and lengthening or shortening it will adjust where the bag sits on your back and how much pressure it puts on your shoulder. There is also a neat tuck away second strap available which is used to stabilise the bag on a long hike. Carrying it fully loaded for a whole day can be a strain but I am sure that this would be true of almost any bag of this capacity.

The Slingshot incorporates some very neat features developed in previous Lowepro bags, on the out side there is a built in rain/sun cover which disappears neatly when not needed and in the event of a sudden downpour can be pulled over the bag in seconds. One point to mention here is while this is a great idea, the cover is attached to the bag so it will never get lost, unfortunately this also means that once the sun comes out you cant remove it to let it dry so you either have to let it hang out the bottom of the bag or tuck it away wet.

Inside the clever tricks continue with a neat memory card storage system accessible as soon as you open the bag and a very welcome micro fibre cloth (again fixed) just inside the lid which is used to cover the rear LCD of your camera whilst in transit. There is a large pocket in the top section which could hold a second body if required and a smaller partitioned pocket on the back useful for all those little knick knacks that we all carry around on the off chance that we will need them one day, pens, paper etc. It also has two attachments for Lowepro's Sliplock accessories such as pouches and extra storage.

The sling design works very well and is very practical and quick to use. Swapping lenses while still wearing the bag requires the use of a third hand but then again is probably easier than doing the same thing with a regular bag and it does mean you can do it without putting the bag down.

Overall I would say this is a very well developed product with many useful features which can carry and protect a medium sized kit with ease and it is perfect for the photographer who has to work on the move.
